101 Genomes Foundation
By providing scientists with an unprecedented genomic biobank, the 101 Genomes Foundation is a leap forward in rare disease research.
Support 101 Genomes Foundation
Despite the existence of more efficient genomic analysis techniques for studying rare diseases, many research centers persist in using gene-by-gene analysis methods, primarily due to a lack of physical and bioinformatics tools necessary to take advantage of genomic research advancements.
The 101 Genomes Foundation has set itself the goal of significantly advancing rare disease research by creating an unprecedented genomic biobank. By making this resource available to researchers on the cloud, and by offering them a better understanding of the genome, we are taking a giant leap towards understanding and treating rare diseases.
Key figures
As of writing these lines, 60 Marfan patients across Europe have already joined the GEMS study. This makes it one of the largest cohorts of Marfan patient investigations... in the world!
